Our response to West Midlands Ambulance Service Quality Account
Each year, Healthwatch Worcestershire reviews and comments on the Quality Accounts of local NHS organisations to ensure the experiences and views of patients, service users and carers are reflected in discussions about service quality and improvement. This response is a joint submission from Healthwatch Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Coventry on the 2025/26 Quality Account of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).
Our response acknowledges the dedication of WMAS staff and the challenges facing ambulance services, while highlighting areas where further improvement is needed.
We comment on key priorities including hospital handover delays, clinical supervision, patient experience, equality and inclusion, ambulance response times, learning from deaths, and the use of alternative care pathways. We also call for greater transparency in local performance reporting, clearer evidence of public involvement in developing the Quality Account, and more accessible information for patients and the public.
