Healthwatch Worcestershire wanted to find out about people’s awareness and experiences of NHS 111. We decided that this was especially important given current pressures on Accident and Emergency services and Primary Care

Healthwatch Worcestershire carried out work to gather feedback and experiences from people with Autism Spectrum Conditions and their Carers, to identify progress made and further action needed in implementing the All Age Autism Strategy.

This “Spotlight On” Report, where we use information that we have gathered to highlight an issue or topic. Language and communication problems were the concerns most often raised by individuals from BAME communities. This Report uses information gathered from work carried out for HWW by Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire to assist us.

Healthwatch Worcestershire carried out Enter and View visit to 13 care and nursing home. The focus for the visits was to look at how residents in these settings are being provided with meaningful activities that support their health and well-being.

Healthwatch Worcestershire undertook a “light touch” piece of work to find out more about the extent to which people had heard of the Care Act, and how they would find information about it. We also wanted to know about people’s use of and preference for online sources of information.

Healthwatch Worcestershire has been asking about the experiences of parents and carers of children under 5 across Worcestershire. We particularly wanted to find out about experiences of care, support and advice during pregnancy and birth, following birth and in early years. We also wanted to hear about experiences of accessing health care and advice for younger children.

Healthwatch Worcestershire undertook our “Going to the Doctors” survey as primary care, and in particular GP services, these are the issue that we hear about most often. The survey was designed to be a quick, structured way to capture this feedback.

Healthwatch Worcestershire undertook a piece of work to find out the experiences of people who use and try to access mental health services. We are also looked at the experiences of carers.

Through engagement work we have carried out over the last year, we have been given feedback by young people and parents about a number of concerns about access and waiting times for support from CAMHS.

This report summarises Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire's engagement with BAME Communities across Worcestershire to find out about their current experiences and issues with health and social care services and seek to encourage BAME engagement with Healthwatch.
