Worcester News Article – 8th March

The Covid-19 vaccination programme in Worcestershire continues to make good progress, with another vaccination centre opening at the Three Counties Show Ground in Malvern. However, we know that many people have concerns about being vaccinated and a Vaccination Inequalities Programme has been set up for Herefordshire and Worcestershire to focus specifically on supporting population groups at risk of low Covid-19 vaccine uptake. We will be running a survey to help the NHS understand what the concerns are around having the vaccine. Please check our website or contact us for more information about the survey if you have any concerns about the Covid-19 vaccination.

There is still time to take part in our Hospital discharge survey, to help us understand experiences of being discharged from hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic. If you, or someone you care for, was discharged from hospital at any time since March 2020 then please complete a Healthwatch Worcestershire survey and share your experience. There is a separate survey for patients and carers (unpaid and paid). You can complete the survey via our website or telephone 01386 550264 leaving your name and address for a paper copy with a Freepost envelope for return by 26th March 2021. Please state if you would like the patient or carer survey, or both.

We are really pleased to hear that Worcestershire Association of Carers are starting an online group for LGBT+ carers in April. Just before the pandemic, we published our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Experiences of Health and Social Care Services Report. We had worked with Worcestershire Association of Carers while designing the survey, to make sure that specific questions were addressed to carers. Our findings suggested that LGBT+ carers would value access to support groups and increased awareness and visibility within organisations providing support. The first online session will be on 13th April – please contact Worcestershire Association of Carers for more information or book a place via the events page of their website – www.carersworcs.org.uk / 0300 012 4272.
