Worcester News Article – 25th January
Last week at our online Public Board Meeting we received some very informative updates from Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust and NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which can all be watched on our YouTube channel or via our website.
Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust gave us an update on the current situation in Worcestershire’s hospitals, in relation to Covid-19 and the increasing numbers of patients being treated, in particular in intensive care, and impact on other services.
NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG gave us an update on the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Worcestershire. Nearly 80,000 people across our two counties have received their Covid-19 vaccination, meaning that they have now vaccinated 10% of our population, including nearly 80% of residents aged over 80, the highest vaccination rate across the Midlands region. Reaching those remaining residents remains their highest priority over the coming weeks, as well as continuing to offer the vaccine to those over 70, people in care homes and health and social care workers.
The CCG also provided a response to the recommendations in our Covid-19 Reports, which included feedback from over 2,500 people about their experiences of accessing local services during the first wave of Covid-19. In particular how they are focussing on the importance of providing clear information and ensuring people know how to seek support for their mental health.
The CCG are currently running a survey to find out people’s views about connecting people’s care records through Integrated Care and Wellbeing Records, providing an electronic record of an individual’s care. Further information about this can be found on the Take Part page of our website, in addition to information about how to take part in our current projects and surveys.
This includes our work on mental health, gathering experiences of the South Worcestershire Community Assessment and Rehabilitation Service, from those using the service and their carers. We are also now asking patients and their carers about their experiences of being discharged from hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic. We would like to hear from you if you or someone you care for has been discharged from hospital since March 2020.
