Worcester News Article – 9th August
We always want to hear about your experiences of using local health and social care services. In addition to the feedback we gather through surveys and more focussed engagement, people contact us by phone, email and via our website and social media, to report their experiences. From April to June the top two service areas people contacted us about were GP practices and the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals. Common concerns about GPs related to contacting the practice by phone, getting appointments and other communication issues. Dissatisfaction with the level of care received, lack of face to face appointments and difficulty making appointments with a named Doctor were also mentioned.
The main issue raised in relation to the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals was concern about potential plans to permanently move Garden Suite chemotherapy service from the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch to Kidderminster. In addition to dissatisfaction with outpatient appointments and inpatient care. Other issues people raised included Covid-19 vaccination, difficulties registering with an NHS Dentist and feedback about community health services, including mental health support and lack of privacy at local pharmacies.
This information helps us to identify current issues and themes, plan the areas we need to focus our engagement on and raise issues with those who run the services and those who monitor their quality, such as the Care Quality Commission. You can read the full summary of the feedback we received alongside a report of the feedback we received from April 2020 to March 2021 on our website.
We are really looking forward to being able to get out to speak with people face-to-face over the coming months. Our focus will be asking people about finding information and communicating with health services online, such as ordering prescriptions online and having a video call with a Doctor. If you would be happy to complete a survey to tell us more about your feedback about this, please get in touch. We can post out paper copies of the survey with reply envelopes or ask you the questions by phone.
