Worcester News Article – 4th May
We have now launched our COVID-19 survey and are calling on the public to help local NHS and care services by completing the survey. We want to hear your views about accessing information and services in Worcestershire during the Coronavirus outbreak. With these essential services facing unprecedented challenges, it is vital that we get your feedback on what is working well, any issues and further information needed by the public. You can help services understand the issues that are affecting care for you and your loved ones by telling us. It’s our job to listen to people’s experiences, sharing your views with those who can do something about it.
Health bosses across Herefordshire and Worcestershire are encouraging people to contact their GP if they have symptoms they are concerned about and not to delay. They are urging people not to hesitate to get checked, following research revealing that nearly half of the public have concerns about seeking help during the Coronavirus pandemic. Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group are particularly concerned that people may not be seeking medical advice for symptoms of cancer. They are telling people to contact their GP or NHS 111 if they have urgent care needs and go to hospital if they are told to do so. More information about this and accessing services can be found on their website – www.herefordshireandworcestershireccg.nhs.uk
In addition to gathering feedback about accessing health and care services, we continue to seek assurance from those responsible for running local services. Many will have seen national press coverage of concerns relating to care homes during the pandemic. Healthwatch Worcestershire will be making enquiries about the position locally in relation to care and nursing homes and domiciliary care provided in people’s homes.
We continue to encourage everyone to follow national guidance and stay at home to help save lives and protect our NHS. But do not hesitate to seek urgent medical care or support for your mental wellbeing at this challenging time.
