Worcester News Article – 30th July

We are making the most of the lovely weather and getting out to talk to people at events across the County. We attended Worcester Community Trust’s Horizon Summer Fete on Saturday 14th July and spoke to lots of families and children about their experiences of going to the Dentist. We are attending several community days and events over the next couple of weeks in Worcester, Droitwich, Stourport, Bromsgrove and Malvern – do check the events page of our website to find out where we are going to be and pop along to have a chat.
You may have heard us on the local Youthcomm Radio! Morag, one of our Engagement Officers, has been talking on air with them about Healthwatch Worcestershire. We will be working with Youthcomm over the coming months to increase awareness of our role and tell people how they can get involved. We will be promoting our survey about going to the Dentist and our upcoming surveys for young people, parents and carers about their experiences of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. There will be regular adverts, further interviews about our work and Youthcomm will be providing some great prize draws. We will also be going out and about on the Youthcomm bus.
To coincide with our work with Youthcomm we have set up a Facebook page. Please like our page and share it with your friends, to find out more about what we are up to, how you can get involved and enter the prize draws.
On 16th July I gave a joint presentation with the Chair of Healthwatch Herefordshire at a local conference about Co-Production – emphasising the importance of health and care services working alongside the people who use services to develop and improve them. I also contributed to a meeting about the provision of community transport to take patients to hospital appointments, as part of plans for the future of hospital services in Worcestershire. The public have raised concerns with us about this issue in the past, so we are keen to make sure patients are involved in future plans for the service.
