Worcester News Article – 2nd December

Our engagement in the past couple of weeks has taken us to a variety of venues across Worcestershire. We held a focus group at HMP Hewell in Redditch, gathering feedback from prisoners as part of our ongoing work around access to health care in prisons. We carried out a workshop with Health and Care students at Worcester Sixth Form College, looking at the importance of user involvement and feedback and finding out their views on support for emotional wellbeing. In addition to promotion of our current LGBT+ survey we have also been at the Carer’s Care Line Fair in Redditch and a Dementia Friendly Concert in Kidderminster organised by the Kidderminster Dementia Action Alliance. We are always looking for different groups and events to attend as part of our engagement. So do get in touch if there is something you would like us to come along to.
Our volunteers have been taking part in PLACE visits at the Worcestershire Royal, Kidderminster and Alexandra hospitals providing feedback from a patient perspective to the Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust.
We also continue to take part in meetings monitoring the delivery and quality of services in Worcestershire, such as the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, which this last week involved discussions about Audiology services, an update on Public Health funding and current work on smoking cessation, in particular during pregnancy.
We are always keen to hear about people’s experiences of local health and care services. This enables us to represent the patient voice where appropriate at the meetings we attend and also to provide feedback to those responsible for ensuring the quality of our services in Worcestershire, such as the Care Quality Commission. In December we are encouraging people to tell us in particular about their experiences of going to the Doctors. So please do tell us about any feedback or experiences relating to GP practices in Worcestershire.
