Worcester News Article – 22nd March
The Board of Directors of Healthwatch Worcestershire have unanimously appointed Jo Ringshall, a serving Director, and the current Vice-Chair of the company as the new Chair of Healthwatch Worcestershire, following the sad and untimely death of Peter Pinfield.
Jo, an accountant, whose professional career has included working for KPMG London and as the CEO of Relate Worcestershire has served as a Director on the Board of Healthwatch Worcestershire since 2013 and has been Healthwatch’s lead for several NHS services including Primary and Urgent and Emergency Care.
Following her appointment Jo said, “It is a privilege to Chair Healthwatch Worcestershire – although in very sad circumstances. Healthwatch Worcestershire and the wider community have suffered a great loss in the death of Peter Pinfield and one that we are still coming to terms with.
I have been a Director of Healthwatch Worcestershire for over 7 years now and have learnt a great deal about health and social care and the delivery of services but most crucially over those years I have learnt the importance of allowing people to have a say in those services and the key role of Healthwatch plays in enabling this.
My job at Healthwatch Worcestershire will be to build on Peter’s legacy and ensure that as we go forward the County Council and the NHS put people, patients, and carers at the heart of Worcestershire’s health and care services.”
Jo chaired our Public Board Meeting held online on Thursday 18th March via Zoom. This gave members of the public and local community groups that attended an opportunity to raise current issues in relation to local health and care services and discussion on our latest areas of work. This included the publication of our Covid-19 Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing Report and feedback from our work gathering service user and carers’ experiences of the South Worcestershire Community Assessment [Mental Health] Recovery Service.
Our Covid-19 vaccination survey is now live – we would encourage anyone with concerns about having a vaccine to visit our website and take part to help us understand these concerns are. Or contact us for paper copies.
