Worcester News Article – 1st July

Last Thursday around 100 people from across Worcestershire attended our Annual Conference at Sixways Stadium, Worcester. Our conference gave people the opportunity to hear about what we have been doing over the last year, help us decide what we will work on between now and 2021 and hold local services to account during a question and answer session.
Delegates received a presentation of our 2018-19 Annual Report which details the work we have done over the last year and our achievements in improving health and social care services across the county. Three of our Directors presented our recently published reports: Children and Young People’s Mental Health; Going to the Dentist and Service User and Carers Experience of the Mental Health Home Treatment Service. These reports and our Annual Report can be found on our website www.healthwatchworcestershire.co.uk
As you know throughout March, April and May our Engagement Officers were out and about across the county talking to people about the NHS Long Term Plan and how changes might be implemented locally. We carried out this work with Healthwatch Herefordshire (HWH) who have had the job of pulling together and analysing all of the information people told us. During our conference Christine Price from HWH presented the findings from this piece of work and answered peoples question about what changes we might expect to see in Worcestershire.
As usual we had a lively question and answer session with a panel of leaders from the local health and social care economy. Delegates had the opportunity to ask questions about issues important to them which ranged from accessibility of services and information for people with hearing impairments to support and funding available for those families with children who have Autism. Thank you to the panel members and to delegates for your involvement.
During the afternoon we offered people the opportunity to vote on what our Business Plan for 2019-21 should include. The results of this voting and our priorities for the next two years will be discussed at our next Public Board Meeting on 10th July at the Civic Centre in Pershore (details available on our website).
