Worcester News Article – 14th January

Happy New Year from everyone at Healthwatch Worcestershire!
Well done to our latest winner of a Fitbit Blaze in our December Facebook Prize Draw. We have been running the competition to help promote our current survey about mental health services for children and young people. There is still time to tell us about your experiences of accessing mental health services for children and young people in Worcestershire, in particular the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service – CAMHS. Please complete our online survey via our website or social media pages or contact us for a paper copy.
During November and December, we engaged with a range of groups across Worcestershire. We held a focus group at HMP Hewell to talk to prisoners about their experiences of accessing health and care services. We gathered feedback about going to the Dentist at the Night Café in Kidderminster, the Worcester Afro Caribbean Association and Children’s Centres and toddler groups. We attended an Autism Strategy Engagement Event at County Hall where we presented our findings and recommendations from our Autism Spectrum Conditions Report. We have delivered two workshops to Health and Care students at Worcester Sixth Form College, gathering their feedback about going to the dentist and support for mental health and emotional wellbeing. We gathered feedback from parents and carers about accessing mental health support at Information Roadshow events for parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and at the North Worcestershire Autism Support Group. We have also been talking to people at a patient drop in session at Woodrow Medical Centre, Wyre Forest MS Society, Sajid Javid’s Pensioners Fayre in Redditch, Social Prescribing Drop in sessions at Kidderminster Medical Centre and the Carers’ Rights Day celebration event.
Listen out for us on Youthcomm Radio for news about Healthwatch Worcestershire and an interview with our Chairman Peter Pinfield about experiences of Diabetes care in Worcestershire.
