Worcester News Article – 14th December
This will be our final column of 2020 from Healthwatch Worcestershire. This year the NHS and care services have faced unprecedented challenges and changes, as we all have. At Healthwatch we have also had to adapt our ways of working to ensure that we have continued to hear your feedback and experiences of local services. We have not surprisingly focused on your experiences of services during the pandemic, in particular with our Covid-19 surveys. All of our reports and the issues we have raised with local commissioners and providers, alongside their responses can be found on our website.
We have also ensured that other areas of our work have continued throughout the year. Last week we attended a regional meeting of Care Quality Commission Primary Care Inspection Team, to present findings from our LGBT+ work alongside local support group Out2gether. We were able to share the key issues that the LGBT+ community had raised with us in relation to visiting the GP and give some examples of the ways practices could make a difference.
Today we are hosting NHS Question Time – Ask the Leaders, an online session giving patients and members of the public an opportunity to put their questions to those who run our local health services. We are pleased to have over 50 people registered to attend and a great selection of questions on a number of key issues submitted. We will be streaming the event live on our YouTube channel, which will then be available to view, so please do take a look.
Following the presentation at our Public Board Meetings in September, about plans for a new patient portal and shared care records in Worcestershire, there is an opportunity for patients and the public to attend a local NHS online session to find out more and give feedback on the plans. This will be held on 7th January – please get in touch if you would be interested in attending.
As always please do contact us if we can provide any more information or to share with us in confidence your experiences of local health and care services.
We wish you a happy and healthy Christmas and new year from all at Healthwatch Worcestershire.
