Worcester News Article – 15th July

We have been busy out and about over the last two weeks at a variety of events talking to people about their experiences of local health and social care services. People have been taking part in our Screening and Immunisation Survey and lots of children and young people have been taking part in our survey about leading a healthy lifestyle. The Worcester Show, Fortis Family Fun Days, Bromsgrove District Housing Trust Community Days and park events in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley are just a few of the events we have attended. These events are important to us as they give us an opportunity to hear your views and experiences and raise awareness of what we do, so thank you to all the organisers who allow us to take part. We cover the whole of Worcestershire and getting out and about throughout the summer is a great way for us to hear from people, so if you have an event or group you would like us to attend please do get in touch with us on the contact details below.
We also attended a meeting of regional inspectors from the Care Quality Commission in Birmingham to talk to them about the work we have done on Autism Spectrum Conditions. As Primary Care Inspectors they were keen to here about the experiences people with Autism and their carers had shared with us about going to the Doctors. We discussed the recommendations we made to GP practices, as part of our Autism Spectrum Conditions Report, including adjustments they could make for patients with Autism. Following the meeting we have created an information sheet for the inspectors to refer to when carrying out inspections. This will be shared with all the teams from West Midlands and East of England.
If you would like to know more about our work or have an experience of health or social care to share with us in confidence, please contact us on 01386 550 264 or info@healthwatchworcestershire.co.uk
