Worcester News Article – 12th July
Last week was National Co-Production Week. Co-production means services working in equal partnership with patients, service users, carers and local communities. Ensuring that the people who use services are involved right from the start with the planning, development and reviewing of services and that their feedback and views are central to all decision making. One of Healthwatch Worcestershire’s core business objectives is promoting and monitoring the responsibility local health and social care commissioners and providers have to involve and engage patients, service users and carers in the co-production of services.
In addition to gathering our own feedback, we also share opportunities local health and care services provide for people to get involved and help shape services. NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group are running a survey throughout July to find out ‘what matters to you’ when it comes to your health and wellbeing. They are interested in how involved you feel in decisions about your care and treatment, how your individual preferences and priorities are acknowledged by services and the resources and information you need to live well. The survey can be found on the Take Part – Surveys and Consultations page of our website.
We also work with the Care Quality Commission to ensure that they are involving patients and service users and gathering feedback as part of their inspection process and the monitoring of local services. Last week we participated in a session looking at their new strategy and the changes they are making to the way they regulate services. This week we will be having our regular meeting with our local GP inspection team to discuss recent feedback and emerging issues. Members of the public can join the CQC’s online community, via their website, which enables the public to get involved with the work of the CQC and take part in discussions.
The next opportunity to take part in the work or Healthwatch Worcestershire will be our Public Board Meeting on 22nd July, which will be taking place at 10am via Zoom.
