News Update – 3rd April 2020
As the Coronavirus outbreak continues and we all adjust to the impact on our daily lives, we would once again urge you to follow the advice and guidance being issued and regularly updated by both the NHS and the Government. Using trusted sources of information is key, so use www.nhs.uk or www.gov.uk when searching online. We also have links on the Coronavirus Information page of our website, which includes information about community support, access to local services and information about looking after your emotional wellbeing.
We held our first online Healthwatch Worcestershire Public Board Meeting via Zoom on 25th March. Thank you to those who joined us. This was an opportunity for us to discuss and agree how we can respond to the current situation and provide support to the local NHS and Worcestershire County Council. We have been working with the County Council in relation to the community support offer across the County. We were gathering information and helping to identify any gaps and the support that groups and communities may need to carry out the role of ensuring those who are vulnerable or at risk receive the support they need.
Part of our role at Healthwatch is to provide information about accessing local services and how to follow up issues or make a complaint. The situation regarding accessing health and care services is constantly changing. Hospitals, GPs and community services are cancelling many non-urgent appointments or carrying these out online or by phone and the majority of health and care services are not currently permitting visitors, so it is important to check the latest information about the services you need to access. NHS England has paused new and existing complaints investigations, so we will be reflecting this in the information we provide, while looking to ensure that key information continues to be fed back to services where needed.
Although we have postponed all our face to face engagement, we are still keen to gather your feedback on what is happening locally in relation to the Coronavirus response. Hearing from you about what is working well and where there are issues will be vital in helping our contribution to beating this pandemic, so please do get in touch.
