Worcester News Article – 4th May

Last week I helped the Patient Participation Group in my local GP practice arrange a seminar entitled ‘Droitwich and Diabetes’. It was an informative meeting given by three Health professionals who explained how to take better control of the disease and help ourselves minimise the complications that arise.

We have an estimated 3.7 million people in the UK living with the condition and figures for Worcestershire are above the national average, giving our Health professionals cause for concern. This is one major illness that we can all do something about, raising awareness of the condition is crucial in encouraging us to take responsibility for making necessary changes to our diet, exercise regime and general wellbeing.

If you would like to know more about Patient Participation Groups, please enquire at your local GP practice.

We like to hold our Public Board meetings around the County and our next one on May 11th is at Trinity Methodist Church in Kidderminster starting at 10am. We have some interesting items on the agenda including; • an update on Children and Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing • a follow up report on Care in the Corridor at Worcester Royal Hospital • Commissioner responses to our All Age Autism Spectrum Conditions Report
In April we started a new piece of work exploring patient and Carer experience of the Mental Health Home Treatment Service, if you have received one of our letters via Worcestershire Health and Care Trust please take a few minutes to complete the survey or give us a call on the number below if you would like to meet us.
