Worcester News Article – 22nd January

We held our last Public Board meeting on 12th January 2018 and were joined by Simon Trickett, Chief Executive of Worcestershire’s Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG’s). CCG’s are responsible for planning and paying for all NHS funded hospital and community health services for residents of Worcestershire.
The Chief Executive explained the proposed changes they are currently consulting on with their member GP practices and NHS England in relation to how the CCG’s are managed. Healthwatch Worcestershire requested that the CCG’s involve patients and the public in the proposals. Their engagement plan was outlined, and a commitment given to respond to questions raised by members of the public at open meetings.

The CCG’s revised their policy on Continuing Health Care funding in November 2016. Following experiences shared by members of the public recently, the Board of HWW agreed to review the implementation and outcomes for patients of this policy. If you have experiences of Continuing Health Care you would like to share, please let us know.

Our varied engagement work across the County continues, with recent attendance at a meeting of Jigsaw – a support group for relatives and carers of people with mental illness. We sought their input and expertise with the design of a survey focussing on carer and service user experience of Home Treatment Plans.

We also attended Redditch and Bromsgrove Patient and Public Forum who received a presentation from the CCG’s about the afore mentioned changes. Discussion at Bromsgrove’s Community Wellbeing Theme Group focussed on how Worcestershire’s Children and Young Peoples Plan for 2017 – 2021 can be supported locally.
